...you wake up to a snowstorm, and in the middle of the afternoon go for a run in t-shirt and shorts.

Ooh, tell me how it went! I have not been running a whole lot because of the snow, which has made it sort of slushy and unpleasant. Yesterday there were enormous puddles I had to slow down for, but today a race that used the same path I ran on yesterday was canceled because in the morning, when the race was to be held, it hadn't gotten warm enough to melt the solid sheets of ice that froze in the overnight very-cold-temperatures.

However, I'm committed to running a local half marathon in June because a friend of mine is race director and I made her a website for it in exchange for a free entry. :-)

It went very well, it was reasonably cold this morning (my fingers remained cold all of the way round) but sunny and clear. I did two big loops in different directions so I could call at the house to collect more food and drink at half-time, and it took me 3 hours and 15 minutes. I was tired, but not desperately so. I imagine that on race day, when I know I don't have to run again for over a week, I won't have to hold back as much.

I was actually going a bit too fast in places, but I'm far enough away from the race not to have to worry about it. I kept on getting sidetracked by this problem I am trying to solve at work, and the more I concentrated on that, the faster I ran, lol. I've only got one long run left now before the real thing though, time is flying!

The Half marathon in June sounds nice. I'm going to do one of those towards the end of May. It's in a place called Chester, not too far from where I live. It's meant to be a nice course, we'll see.

Oh, yay, and wow, you do run fast. Yesterday I did a fairly fast run as well (9:40 for 4 miles) in your honor. :-)

I did this same course as my very first long race (2004?) and came in 2:01:30 or so. This year I am aiming for under 2 hours.
