doing a girly thing, for a change

So, um, I bought a straightening iron.

And for those of you who were wondering, beneath the cut is a picture of me with straight hair, and an older picture of me with my ordinarily wavy hair. (I don't think I have any recent photos with my hair down - mostly they are hiking pictures, and my hair's in a ponytail.) You may recognize the older photo as being from HOTT.BOB - I think that's Gary Heston in the background!

Which straightening iron did you get? I've been contemplating getting one as I just don't seem to be able to do a good job of blow drying my hair. Back when I had a real job I used to plunk down the $$$ at a salon to get a "straight perm" done twice a year, which resulted in truly wash and go hair.

I got the "Remington Wet 2 Straight" which was about $30 - prices seemed to range between about $20 to $35 at the drugstore, and then there is the professional one [livejournal.com profile] saramwrap mentioned which was $100, so I thought that the high end of cheap seemed reasonable. This particular model can be used on either wet or dry hair, so it's sort of a combo iron-dryer, which I thought would be good because I rarely blow dry my hair.

And I'd think your hair would be naturally perfectly straight! I remember seeing you with a perm, though - don't remember if it was FROST.BOB or when we went to the museum that one time.

Once beyond a certain length my hair gets wavy enough to make people think I got a perm. Shorter than that it's straight but sticking out every which way. The straightening perm was great because it let me have long straight hair without having to blow dry or fuss with it in other ways.

Also, I like your new glasses much better. And the straightened hair. You look younger now than you did at hott.bob!
