I have not used a belt in a race since 2008. At a couple of races (including Boston) I carried a small disposable plastic bottle of water and drank from it in the first several miles, then ditched it. I have a couple of different belts for carrying water/supplies which I use on long runs, but don't actually like wearing any of them!
I'm more concerned with calories at Houston. They don't have gels or anything, just Gatorade (which I don't like, but will drink if I have to). I might wear my shorts that have pockets just so I can carry some type of fuel (which is also what I did at Boston).
