Those switchbacks! I'm imagining all the spills I could take going down ^____^
I was REALLY CAREFUL on the downhill, making sure to brake before every curve. Actually this is the one place I was FASTER than Ryan - she's a weenie about going fast downhill, even though she's completely non-weenie about everything else.
I should look into bike trips more, but my feet "fall asleep" when I bike far, though I maybe gather that can be helped by "click pedals"?
Hmm, you know, I wonder if it's the pedals or the seat making your feet fall asleep. The click pedals help you use a more round motion since you still power the bike on the upstroke, but they do take some getting used to. The saddle and seating position can put pressure on your leg nerves and make your feet go to sleep, though.
What were the temperatures like? Bare feet! We're supposed to get below 0° C this weekend…
I'm on my phone - is that a flat stone bridge supported by thin air (if connected on both ends)? That looks crazy, but maybe I'm seeing it wrong.
It was really warm! It has become cooler since, and we too will get below freezing (and maybe snow) this weekend - actually, it's been subfreezing at night a few days this week. But Canyonlands is a bit lower and warmer than here always, and it was very sunny and warm during the days, and not too terribly cold at night. We slept out without a tent and it was just barely on the edge of being warm enough the first night - I ended up putting my extra clothes on, fleece and wool layers - but the second night was fine and the third I was actually too hot and had to unzip my bag.
Yes, the picture is a natural arch! It's called Musselman Arch and it's hard to photograph, but it's very cool. You can go walk out on it though you're not supposed to.
