I have joined the throng trying to alter the popular interests list by adding falsifying statistics to my lj interests. (I wonder if anyone is keeping track of the number of people listing this interest over time - how fast a silly meme like this spreads? Hmm, no matter how many people list an interest, only a selection show up on that page. Hmm.) Join the throng and spread the word.

I dunno, there's something fundamentally dishonest behind stunts like these (e.g., Googlebombing) that precludes my participation. Compounding this, people don't correct the situation once the stunt has been achieved (how many people will remove that interest once it's broken through?).

I added in. I have a huge interest in falsifying stats: I try not to do it but can smell a lying stat a mile away. As a political junkie, I see it often. Funny, I just hadn't thought to add it before. Thanks!

As a result of this introspection, I have added resisting peer pressure (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=resisting+peer+pressure) to my list of interests.

It would bother me if this was meaningful data collection.

On the other hand, I did my part already by adding lemurs in the rain (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=lemurs+in+the+rain) a couple years ago, so as far as I'm concerned this meme is stale.
