extreme kitchen makeover
Jan. 16th, 2006 02:07 pmOk, this is going to be the last of the picspam for a while. What the kitchen looked like when we bought the house (well, we moved the fridge to the dining room before taking these, because it was just before demolishment, but you can see the space where it was):
What the kitchen looks like now:

Some in-process photos:
Basically, we knocked everything down to the bare studs, which gave us a chance to insulate the outside wall (which had no insulation) and replace the single-pane windows with insulated low-e windows, and to reshape the room a little - the nook where the sink was is now a storage space accessible from the other side.

Then we insulated and sheetrocked and painted, and Britt built new cabinets. We looked into buying cabinets, but with our not-quite square walls and odd shapes we'd have to go custom, and Britt likes woodworking anyway.

Finally we tiled the counters with granite and the floor with terracotta. Yay!

Then we bought fancy new appliances and installed them, and we had a lovely kitchen.
Aren't you sorry you asked?
