Yesterday we "fished" for cockles, which is actually easier and quicker than going to the supermarket to buy shellfish (assuming you have an appropriate tidal flat). Step one: walk out into the shallow water during low tide. Step two: dig your hands under the mud. Step three: pull up the cockles. Between easy-to-get seafood and Nat and Jenine's humongous garden, it looks like feeding oneself is pretty darn easy here.

Also - we went to a brewpub! I admit I was disappointed in NZ beer up to now, but I give four thumbs up (mine and Britt's) to the Leigh Sawmill's Thornycroft amber.

Okay, now we are going to a predator-free preserve, or maybe a beach. (Omaha Beach. Insert WWII reference here.) Jenine (and I) wave at all of YOU.

Heh. Unfortunately, Doug and Anne ran away to NZ but might have to run back; they do have strict emigration rules, and the economy here is also in downturn. So as easy as it seems to support yourself (well, to eat) without actually having a JOB, alas, the government doesn't like that.

Today is birthday of Ilana's mom, so we play it sort of lazy. It's cold (while you are edging towrd's midsummer's night), your brother Allon just took off for San Diego where his company is anxiously awaiting him, since he seems to be the only one who understands the electronic gadget which his company sold for mucho dinero to Uncle Sam.
Yesterday we were invited for dinner at the Chettris, very pleasant (and Samir cooked it all).

Please give Anne and Doug our phone-email-address and tell them not to be shy, we'll gladly post bail for them, or welcome them to the inauguraion in Washington--though predictions are it will be a madhouse
