Move over, Bulwer-Lytton
Dec. 15th, 2002 03:56 pmChristopher is a nice enough guy, I suppose. He had volunteered to do the programs for our play, but his vision (ornate Victoriana) clashed with the director's vision (dusty 1950's) and the director ended up making his own programs. A good thing, as it turns out, because last night Christopher passed out his version as "souvenirs" to the cast and crew.
Christopher uses 50-cent words where nickel words would do; but if he can find a two-dollar word, he'll use that one, whether or not he can spell it, pronounce it, or even understand what it means. His "synopsis" of the play had just about nothing to do with the actual play. And the way he mangled our bios, oh, dearie me:
"Larry, in his naive years of inceptual interest in the art of theatre, was often discovered to be hanging about the wings of the Pink Garter theatre in Jackson Hole, Wyoming..."
"Recently, Stephanie has extrapolated and expounded on the charachter[sic] aspects of Eileen in 'Moon over Buffalo'..."
"Paula is a journalist by trade, and has adorned the editorialship of a newspaper in previous years..."
"Roc would like to gratuitously invite audience members to ponder putting a piece of their heart and their life into the theater arts..."
This writing transcends mere "awful" and ventures into the realm of tactical weaponry. I mean, if we got Christopher to write propaganda brochures which we then air-dropped on our enemies, we'd be able to mop them up in no time while they were laughing their asses off
