ilanaramaAll the supercomputer sites where I work were hacked this week, and I've been spending more time on the phone getting temporary passwords, and changing them online or trying to, than actually working. Grr. But when I phoned the consultants at LBNL's NERSC, which stands for something but I can't be arsed to look it up right now, and gave my username, the guy on the phone said:
"Oh! You're the famous Ilana."
Um, right. Excuse me?
"You're the one into motorcycle racing, right?"
My Usenet past comes back to haunt me yet again; turns out a couple of the guys working there are old acquaintances from rec.motorcycles. Just like t.b, I suppose - you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
