Yeah, there are a lot of things we can do as individuals. And I happen to have the money, so.

No, raising local plants! In this case, part of the rationale is to provide local farmers a market for sunflower and canola. The wheat and bean industry here is doing poorly, and dryland agriculture is limited in what can be grown here. The sunflower hulls will be burned for process heat, to improve energy balance.
