There is a bear cub in my front yard!

ETA:

Also, the answer to the age-old question is apparently: No, he shits in my yard.

OMG! Wow. That's... WOW.

And that probably means there's a mama bear somewhere in the vicinity.

*huge eyes*

Crickey. There's an empty Walker's crisps packet in mine. And a cat. Urban tiger, I mean.

Awww!

As long as it stays away from the house and the truck, it sounds adorable.

Don't feed it porridge or let it sleep in your bed. That never turns out well.

Photo added! And, alas, no mama bear. There was an article in the paper just this morning that quoted a local state wildlife officer as saying that they'd seen lots of cubs wandering on their own, presumably because their mamas couldn't feed them in these drought conditions.

Cool, but a little sad for the poor bear who ought to be up in the mountains.

Britt threw rocks at it and chased it back to the closest bit of mountain park, which is what you're supposed to do. The idea is to make it not want to mix with people and eat their trash.

I am not sure where he wandered down from! It's not that far to the national forest, though. And this has been a very bad year for bears in town. They are knocking over garbage cans all over, walking through the neighborhoods...there was a late freeze and then a drought, and so the nuts and berries they usually depend on are sparse.
