ilanaramaAfter a pleasant half hour chat with the managing editor of the local newspaper, he offered me the column I'd proposed! (See this entry.) I am very pleased as pitching a column to a newspaper is a hard sell. It's a once-a-month "entertaining and informative" look at that month's historical climatology and any unusual or interesting historical weather events which happened that month. 350 words, $25 (not much, but alas typical for small newspapers; it might increase if things go well), and he wants to run it on the (high-profile!) back page, next to the weather report, with a photo and a little bio.
